Introduction to Dance (3-4Yrs)
A great beginning to dance for young children.  This fun and energetic class will start to develop coordination and rhythm and a basic awareness of movement.  Basic ballet and jazz steps will be introduced using up-beat children's music.

Classical Ballet
For dancers 7 yrs & over, ballet is basic to all forms of dance and students usually make good progress in other disciplines if they have a background in ballet. Classes are graded according to age and level, from the youngest (7 & 8 yrs) up to adults. Students may attend from one to several classes weekly - depending on their interest and ability. Dancers may work toward ballet exams in special classes when the teacher feels that that student is ready.
During a one 1 hour class, students spend 1/2 hour working at the barre - to develop the strength coordination balance and stretch that is needed and then they dance in centre floor facing the mirrors for adage (slow combinations) and allegro (quick movements - jumps and turns). This is an interesting subject which presents many challenges to the student.

Pointe
Pointe class for girls may be added when the technical level is strong enough and if the student is 11 years or older.

Tap
The technique & terminology is taught at various levels and will introduce the student to rhythm patterns and intricate footwork while learning dance combinations.

Jazz
This discipline includes strong training in the basic jazz technique while strengthening the body with various movements that develop the control, balance, and ability to jump and turn as required in dancing this style.

Hip Hop
Lots of fun in this class of the latest dance style. Classes are given for 8 yrs and over up to adults. Some jazz "warm ups" are given first then combinations of steps in hip hop style are taught. Dancers will develop coordination, while having a good work out.

Lyrical
This is a graceful flowing style of jazz and gives the student an opportunity to express the words of the music in dance form.

Modern
A class for dancers 12 and over with previous training in basic moves. This contemporary style presents the dancer with a different medium in which they can interpret and express their emotions.

Specialty
In this class the student is given the opportunity to experience multi disciplines. Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Modern, and Hip Hop are all included and a short course in each is given during the season.
